Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has strengthened its collaboration with the Sierra Leone Police through an engagement at the Motema Police Divisional Headquarters in Kono District, officials said.

The meeting, held after a similar outreach at the Tankoro Police Division, aimed to formally welcome the newly transferred Local Unit Commander, Chief Superintendent Alimamy Gibril Sesay, while reinforcing cooperation between the two institutions in combating corruption and crime.

ACC Acting Regional Director in Kono, Andrew Demby, said the partnership between the ACC and the police has been key to several successful investigations and prosecutions in the district, including a high-profile case involving alleged misappropriation of Free Health Care drugs.

He urged police officers to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in their duties, warning that public trust is essential for effective law enforcement.

Demby also encouraged officers to familiarise themselves with key legal frameworks, including the Anti-Corruption Act 2008 (as amended in 2019) and the Criminal Procedure Act 2024, to ensure they operate within their legal mandate.

He further highlighted provisions of the Whistle Blower and Witness Protection Regulations 2025, noting protections available to individuals who report corruption, and reminded officers of the upcoming asset declaration exercise, urging full compliance.

Chief Superintendent Alimamy Gibril Sesay welcomed the engagement, expressing appreciation to the ACC and pledging continued cooperation to strengthen integrity and professionalism within the division.
