Government Institutes Further Reform to Minimize Conflicts Over Land

The Government of Sierra Leone has in a public notice it put out on Friday February 2nd 2024 informed members of the public that with immediate effect all individuals wishing to secure State Land lease, Freehold, Grant, Building Permits and Land Registration MUST submit a copy of the national identity card, non-national identity card, ECOWAS Identity Card which bears the Unique Identifiers National Identification Number (NIN).
The notice furthered that the directive was in line with the Cabinet Directives and Parliamentary Ratification of March 2022 which provided for the mandatory link of the National Identification Number (NIN) inscribed on the ID Cards to access services such as Land and Property registration among others in Sierra Leone.
The Government of Sierra Leone in its notice of Friday 2nd February 2024 concluded by emphasizing that the aforementioned identification cards could be obtained at all National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) District Offices and other Designated Centers, and encouraged members of the public to cooperate with its directive.
