Sierra Leone’s first leg match with Algeria in the ongoing AFCON 2021 Tournament taking place in DOUALA, Cameroon ended 0-0 at the JAPOMA Stadium.
The first half was thrilling and exciting as both sides created chances, but our Darling Leone Stars put up some extra performance that kept the Algerians at bay.
The second half saw both teams came forward to scoring goals but proved unsuccessful. Leone Stars put the ball at the back of the net in the 70th minute through Alhaji Andriano Kamara after a beautiful pass from Kei Kamara but was ruled out for offside.
The Algerians also had chances but were denied by our goalkeeper Mohammed N Kamara of East End Lions. He was so outstanding that he bagged the Man of the Match Award.
Kudos to Kwame Quee (midfielder General), who was superb in the midfield and also Steven R. Caulker, our defence maestro.
Leone Stars received massive support during the match from Sierra Leoneans based in DOUALA Cameroon. Thanks Sierra Leone Sports Supporters Union; though they had to face some challenges entering the stadium-ticket concerns.
When I spoke to the Minister of Sports Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, he said the organisers delayed to release the tickets to Sierra Leone Football Association Authorities (SLFA) for the country’s delegations but assured me that this will not happen in our remaining matches.
