Ecobank Sierra Leone said it will participate as a platinum sponsor in the Sierra Leone Mining Week 2026, underlining its push to support sustainable investment and growth in the country’s extractive sector.

The event, scheduled for May 19–23 at the Freetown International Conference Centre, is expected to bring together government officials, mining companies, investors and development partners from across Africa and beyond.
Ecobank said its involvement will include participation in high-level panel discussions and strategic engagements focused on mining finance, local value addition and economic transformation. The lender’s participation follows its presence at Mining Indaba 2026, where it supported financing arrangements for mining infrastructure and mineral processing projects.

Managing Director Sebastian Ashong Katai said the conference provides a platform for collaboration among policymakers, financial institutions and industry players to unlock opportunities in the sector.
During the event, Ecobank representatives are expected to discuss investment opportunities, sustainable resource management, digital financial solutions and cross-border trade, while engaging stakeholders on tailored financing options for mining firms, contractors, small businesses and host communities.

The Mining Week is jointly organised by the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the National Minerals Agency as part of efforts to position Sierra Leone as a destination for responsible mining investment.
Ecobank said its participation reflects its broader strategy to drive industrial growth and economic development across Sierra Leone and the wider African continent.
