Chinese embassy donates food to police ahead of festive season

More News

The Chinese embassy in Sierra Leone has donated food items to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) to support officers during the festive season, underscoring growing cooperation between China and the country’s security institutions.

Police officials said the donation was intended to boost morale as officers prepare for increased security duties and public engagement during the holidays, a period typically marked by higher operational demands.

In a statement accompanying the donation, the embassy said the gesture reflected the “strong and enduring bilateral relationship” between China and Sierra Leone and formed part of Beijing’s broader commitment to strengthening cooperation with the SLP.

The embassy added that supporting the police during critical periods contributes to public safety and stability, particularly when security services are under pressure.

The SLP welcomed the donation, describing it as timely support that would help officers remain focused on maintaining law and order throughout the festive season.

China has in recent years expanded cooperation with Sierra Leone across several sectors, including infrastructure, health, and security, as part of broader bilateral engagement between the two countries.
