The president of the Sierra Leone Swimming Association, Rev. George Spilsbury-Williams said swimming had been a successful sporting discipline in the country because his association cares for each and every member.
The President said executive members of the association are performing their duties well especially his athletes whom he described as helpful and have been showing sportsmanship.
He called on the private sector; and sport personalities in the country to help swimming and other sport indiscipline so that sport will develop in Sierra Leone.
He continued that swimming has been a top sporting discipline in the country because for him, they have been holding trials for their athletes every three months before the covid-19 .
He explained that they were very happy the day the association’s website was lunched, when on that occasion they were informed by Unisa Deen Kargbo -Chef de Mission of the National Olympic Committees [NOC] that Swimming association was the first discipline to qualify to the Olympic Games this year. The event he said had been postponed due to the Covid-19.
The president called on the his athletes to continue their self training during this COVID 19 period so that Sierra Leone will maintain quality representatives in Japan next year.
