United Nations Women in Sierra Leone has Offered Technical Support to All Political Parties Women Association in Sierra Leone. The support came by during the time when the all political parties women association embarked on two days retreat based on developing the annual work plan for 2024-2025.They secured funding from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) within Sierra Leone’s electoral budget.
The association has also followed up with the senior leadership of the Sierra Leone Police on rolling out actions in the implementation of assessment report recommendations after a successful barrier assessment on measuring opportunities for women in peace operations.
This is not the first time for UN Women for organizing such activities. The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sierra Leone has concluded two cohorts of training on leadership and consensus building for women leaders of political parties in Sierra Leone between 21 and 29 March, 2023.Through the trainings, the women acquired essential leadership techniques on negotiation, public speaking, and formulation of convincing arguments, active listening, and consensus building, as critical elements to enhance their participation as candidates, as well as promoters of inclusivity, confidence-building, and peacebuilding before, during and after the elections.
