Blama Town, Eastern Sierra Leone , Saturday 21 August, 2020 Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, has officially commissioned two brand new 160kva and 200kva transformers at Blama Town ,Small Bo Chiefdom,Kenema District ,Eastern Sierra Leone. The presentation and commissioning of the transformers was the result of the efforts and requests from Honourable Musa Moigua, the Paramount Chief of Small Bo Chiefdom,Chief Mohamed Benya, and other stakeholders and illustrious sons and daughters of the chiefdom.
Making a brief statement at the commissioning ceremony , Mr.Kanja Sesay praised President Julius Maada Bio for the support given to him as a minister, adding that the people of Blama should be grateful to the President for what they were receiving. He described President Bio as a service and delivery focused man while also lavishing praises on the Honourable Member of Parliament of the constituency,the Paramount Chief and other chiefdom stakeholders for the constant reminder they gave to him about the appalling electricity situation at Blama .
The Minister of Energy maintained that he was commissioning two new transformers of different sizes or capacities, promising that with the new facilities , the quality of electricity was going to be improved and access to it expanded . He maintained that he was commissioning a combined total of 360 megawatts which represents a significant addition in capacity in comparison with the two transformers that were being replaced .He called on the people to own the transformers and to help EDSA provide adequate and reliable electricity through the payment of bills .
Mr.Sesay spoke about the many energy projects the Government was implementing and assured that by 2023, access to energy in not only that part of the country but the whole country would be increased.
Coordinator ,Human Capital Development, Office of the President ,Luseni Dassama, spoke at the ceremony , thanking the minister for the transformers which would improve the human resource of the country through the provision of electricity. He described the minister as a caring and a listening man.
The ceremony was chaired by Mr.Michael Kekura Samba. The minister was accompanied by a host of officials from the Ministry of Energy.
The ceremony was climaxed by unbridled joy and a collective expression of a feeling of relief by the people .The two transformers which were replaced , had caused serious inconvenience for the people of Blama in the forms of total blackouts and poor quality of electricity evacuated to households.
The Minister of Energy, his team at the ministry ,EDSA and EGTC continue to make significant gains in the energy sector reforms arena.
