Sierra Leone’s National Sports Authority (NSA) and the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone have pledged to strengthen collaboration aimed at improving sports development and governance in the country.
The newly appointed NSA Executive Director, Mohamed Alphaka Conteh, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the NOC on Wednesday, marking a renewed push for unity within the sector.

The visit is part of broader efforts backed by President Julius Maada Bio to enhance institutional partnerships, support athletes, and promote effective sports administration.
During the meeting, both sides focused on strengthening cooperation before, during and after major sporting events, with Conteh emphasizing professionalism, inclusiveness and teamwork as key pillars of his leadership.
“My leadership will be anchored on humility, integrity, mutual respect and collective responsibility,” Conteh said, adding that progress in the sports sector depends on unity among stakeholders.
He reaffirmed the NSA’s commitment to building partnerships, improving athlete welfare and creating an environment that promotes peace and excellence across the country’s sporting landscape.
NOC President Prince Suallay welcomed the delegation and outlined the committee’s strategic priorities, stressing the need for closer coordination between the two institutions.
“Stronger institutional partnership is critical to enhancing athlete preparation and ensuring successful participation in international competitions,” Suallay said.
He highlighted upcoming global events, including the Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, noting that early preparation and collaboration would be essential.
The reciprocal visits between the NSA and NOC within 24 hours underscore a shared commitment to unity and cooperation in advancing Sierra Leone’s sports sector.
