Ecobank Sierra Leone and Easy Solar have launched a partnership aimed at expanding access to affordable, clean energy solutions through innovative financing for households and businesses.

The agreement was unveiled at Easy Solar’s office in Wilberforce, Freetown, at an event attended by senior executives from both institutions and stakeholders in the renewable energy sector. The programme was moderated by Christopher Babah Conteh.
Among key attendees were Ecobank Sierra Leone’s Head of Consumer and Commercial Banking, Kate Thompson; Managing Director, Senatia Ashong-Katai; Easy Solar’s Head of Retail Sales, Akua Kwakyewaa Duah; PayGo Managing Director, Benjamin Afrifa; and Head of Production and Innovation, Samuel Kamanda, who showcased the company’s range of solar products.
Speaking at the event, Thompson said the partnership reflects Ecobank’s commitment to supporting renewable energy initiatives that improve livelihoods and expand access to sustainable power.
Ashong-Katai said the collaboration is designed to unlock private capital for high-impact energy solutions, noting that access to finance remains critical to economic growth and individual empowerment.
“When finance meets innovation, it creates opportunities that power development,” she said, adding that the bank remains committed to delivering value to customers while contributing to Sierra Leone’s economic development.
Duah said Easy Solar’s mission is to ensure that energy and life-improving products are accessible and affordable to all, regardless of income level or location.
“Since our founding, we have grown into one of West Africa’s most trusted integrated energy companies, delivering reliable and transformative power solutions across Sierra Leone and Liberia,” she said.
Easy Solar, a leading off-grid energy provider in Sierra Leone, has installed thousands of solar systems powering homes, hospitals and businesses. The company has also worked with private sector partners to expand access to solar energy through flexible payment options.
Ecobank said the partnership forms part of its broader regional programme to promote alternative energy solutions and strengthen the off-grid solar market by supporting commercially viable projects.
The initiative is expected to enhance lending capacity for solar customers and accelerate the adoption of renewable energy solutions across Sierra Leone.
