International moral guarantors are set to hold talks with Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) as part of efforts to advance the implementation of the country’s Agreement for National Unity.
The meeting, scheduled for April 14, has been convened by the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), which said the engagement forms part of a broader follow-up mission to assess progress on the unity agreement and recommendations from the Tripartite Committee report.
A delegation of international guarantors will visit Sierra Leone from April 13 to 17, according to a letter signed by ICPNC Executive Secretary Hawa Samai.
The mission will be led by Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, former vice president of The Gambia and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).
During the visit, the delegation is expected to engage political actors and other stakeholders to develop a roadmap for monitoring the implementation of the agreements.
As part of the consultations, the guarantors have requested a meeting with the leadership of the APC at the party’s headquarters, where discussions will focus on national peace, cohesion and progress on agreed reforms.
The ICPNC said it expects the engagement to contribute to constructive dialogue and help advance efforts aimed at strengthening democratic trust and national unity.
The visit highlights continued regional and international interest in Sierra Leone’s political stability, particularly in ensuring that post-dialogue commitments are effectively implemented.
