A magistrate in Freetown on Wednesday denied bail for the fourth time to Sierra Leonean model, entertainer and political activist Zainab Sheriff in her ongoing trial over allegations of threatening language and inciting conduct.

Presiding magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah ruled against the defence application during proceedings, ordering that Sheriff remain in custody until the matter resumes on March 18.

During the hearing, defence counsel again applied for bail, presenting several arguments in support of the request. Prosecutors opposed the application, urging the court to maintain the previous ruling.

Magistrate Jah subsequently refused the application, siding with the prosecution and maintaining that the accused should remain in detention pending further proceedings.

Sheriff has now been denied bail four times since the case began.

The case continues on March 18, when the court is expected to resume hearing the matter.
