Sierra Leone’s Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has warned it will suspend the All People’s Congress (APC) from political activities if the party fails to pay a fine imposed over remarks made by its officials.

PPRC Chairman Emmanuel K. Amara said the opposition party had not settled the penalty despite several reminders from the Commission.

“By close of business today, if the fine remains unpaid, the Commission will suspend the APC at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow,” Amara said during an interview on Truth Morning Devotion, a local radio programme.

The fine was imposed following what the Commission described as controversial public statements by APC officials, which it said violated the country’s political party regulations.

The PPRC is mandated to regulate the conduct of political parties and ensure compliance with Sierra Leone’s electoral and governance laws.

The APC has not publicly responded to the warning.
