FREETOWN – Prominent businessman Adekalie Conteh has been remanded at the Freetown Correctional Centre following his appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of the Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Thursday, 7 August 2025.
Conteh faces charges of murder and malicious damage after a violent incident on 16 February 2025 in Tokeh village, during which Andrew Mansaray was allegedly killed. Court documents allege Conteh, accompanied by a group of men, disrupted local businesses and vandalized property, including a Bluetooth music system valued at NLe 3,000.
Prosecution witness Francis Lebbie, the owner of the damaged equipment, testified that he witnessed Conteh and his group—armed with cutlasses, knives, and bottles—causing chaos in the area. Lebbie said he fled and later learned that someone had been killed near his shop.
Defense lawyer J. Fofanah began cross-examining the witness and requested more time to continue. Due to the seriousness of the charges, Magistrate Fornah denied bail and adjourned the matter to 14 August 2025.
