Rugiatu Mussaffa Tarawalli Female MP from Kenema District has on Monday 21st August 2023 drag to court 19 years old John Richard Conteh for allegedly stealing over two billion old Loenes worth of assorted items from her house. The accused John Richard Conteh made his first appearance before magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No1 and was arraigned on three counts charges of Larceny in Dwelling house contrary to section 13(1) of the larceny Act 1916. According to the charge sheet on count one, the accused between the years of 2022 and 2023, at No3 cemetery road Adonkia Freetown, with intent to steal broke and entered into the dewlling house of Rugiatu Mussaffa Tarawalli and stole therein one square gold box values 15 thousand united states dollars, Necklace, earring, bracelet, apple ipad, 7 gold wrist watch, human hair, four perfume and other assorted items all to the total valued of two billion three hundred and twelve million three hundred and sixty-one thousand old Loenes (2,312,361) property of Rugiatu Mussaffa Tarawalli The police further alleged in counts two that the accused on the aformentioned years with intent to steal entered into the dwelling house o Rugiatu Mussaffa Tarawalli and stole therein one digital Camara, one Africell Wi-fi, one woofer speaker all to the total sum of twenty six million two hundred and ten thousand old Leones, (26,210,000) property of Morie Saffa. Whiles Counts three added that the accused with intent to steal, entered into the dwelling house of complainant and stole therein one kath wrist watch and other assorted items with fisical cash of two thousand new Leones all to the total sum of NLe 27,850 property of Aminata Mabondo Amara When the charge was read and explain to the accused in court, no plea was taken and no legal representation was made on his behalf. Hon. Tarawalli led in evidence by Chief Superintendent of police Juan M S Bull said she is a Hon. Member from Kemena district. She recognized the accused as his tailor who has been working for her for over 2years and further recalled something in 2022 and 2023. She said the accused whiles working for her had access to their house, at this juncture the complainant burst into tears whiles looking at the accused in the dock noting that she is not familiar with court proceedings and that it was her first time to come to court. Magistrate Ngegba however refused bail and remand the accused in prison whiles the matter was adjourned to the 24 August 2023, for continuation of her examination in chief. Chief Superintendent of police Juan M S Bull and Inspector Mabel Tarawally prosecuted the matter in court.

Govt. Funds NLe 1, 638,000 to WARDC
By Alusine Fullah The Ministry of Finance in Sierra Leone has successfully transferred a substantial grant amounting to Nle1, 638,000 (One Million, Six Hundred and Thirty Eight Million Leones) to the administrative bank account of the West African Regional Development Council (WARDC). This is to inform the general public that the Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Finance has transferred grant totaling NLe 1, 638, 000 (one million six hundred and thirty-eight millions Leones) into the Council Administrative Bank Account held at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Waterloo. According to the Public Notice this grant is to finance budgeted activities of devolved sectors and the Council Administration for the first quarter of Finance Year 2023. In line with the instructions from the Ministry of Finance, the council has remitted the under mentioned allocations into the respective sector bank accounts as follow: Sector Amount Education 236,000 Library 56,000 Agriculture 67,000 environment 37,000 Primary Health 282,000 Primary Health Cash to PHU Facilities 59,000 Rural Water 81,000 Social Welfare 63,000 Youths 58,000 Sports 58,000 Gender 99,000 Fire Prevention 16,000 Marine Resources 22,000 Unconditional Block Grant 441,000 Support to Ward Committees 63,000 Heads of devolved sectors have been informed and are expected to facilitate the implementation of service delivery activities in the district as provided in their approved FY 2023 Annual Work Plan.
